jewellery to feel personal and expressive—something that can transform a simple
outfit and won’t be found everywhere.

Meet Kay

I’m Kay Jiaqi Zhou, a ceramic artist and designer based in Copenhagen. With a background in industrial design and an earlier career designing watches, I’ve always been fascinated by craftsmanship, small details and the objects we keep close to us. Today, I design and make POPORCELAIN jewellery in small batches from my home studio.

Why porcelain?

I love porcelain because it begins as something so humble—soft clay, almost like mud. After being shaped by hand and passing through intense heat, it emerges hard, luminous and entirely transformed. There is something quietly magical about turning such an ordinary material into a piece of art that someone can wear. Subtle variations remain in every finished piece, giving each one a distinctive character of its own.

The making process

Each piece is designed, shaped, glazed, fired and assembled through a slow, careful process. Most require two or three firings—more than 15 hours in the kiln at temperatures reaching 1280°C—before becoming wearable porcelain art.
